  • Reviews
  • Beneficial at any time of the year even in winter
  • Fixed rolling spikes dig in easily and smoothly without jerking
  • Large 300mm (12") width covers most lawns quickly
  • Thirty 45 mm (2") spikes provide deep even aeration
  • T Bar handle for easy pushing
  • Assembly required

Very easy... here's how to get the most out of it....
Depending on your height, hold the handle into your stomach or chest with one hand and lean slightly forwards over the aerator so that you can apply gently downward pressure on the shaft with the other hand. Now walk forwards and aerate. At the end of the run, pull it up and DROP it into position for the next run; this sticks it well into the lawn (watch your toes though) ready to's that simple.

TIP: If you've got a lot of lawn to do cut some foam pipe insulation and cover the handle - very comfy

Manual aeration is never going to be easy, but this piece of equipment for me is a good step up from spiked shoes. It is solidly made but not too unwieldy.

Product is easily assembled.
Although handle is secure it seems slightly flimsy.
It would perhaps benefit from being an 'A' frame rather than a single pole.

Once assembled the aerator works. Assembling the spikes was impossible with the nylon nuts. Then a struggle to get them off and use the alternative nuts which do work.

Excellent product but will take some time to build up so do n’t expect to be using it immediately after delivery.
Once you put it together, it’s a great tool, should have bought one years ago.
The Lawnsmith video on how best to use it was brilliant.

Great little product, well made and quite sturdy. It's obvious that it won't have enough weight to penetrate the turf without some help and you can push down on it, which is pretty hard work. However, if you slip a couple of 4Kg barbell weights over the handle it works very well and is easy to operate.

Pushing the roller tends to rip up the turf as the spikes, impbedded to their full 2in length, pull out and tear the grass. Pulling the roller gives much cleaner holes and is much less work.

The product works nicely, but my major criticism is with the assembly of the studs. It took me almost two hours and a lot of effort to make sure that all the studs were screwed in fully, and there are still a couple that I couldn't fully screw in. The studs should come already assembled. A very frustrating assembly.

Looks robust. Not used yet as lawn is very dry and hard due to exceptionally dry spring. Will use after rain when spikes will penetrate softer top surface of lawn.

A bit of hard work but very manageable. I am a short person so I removed one of the 3 pieces that make up the handle. I joined the other 2 sections with a round pole and some screws. This provided greater downward pressure and made the aeration much easier.

The Aerator was used on my lawn, it worked fine when the ground was soft.
I would recommend the Aerator to my family and friends.

The only thing I would say you could possibly supply extra rubber spike covers as they easily fall off and are lost.

Fiddly to put together, glad of the plastic caps on the tines. Handle pole a little bit off on alignment between;holes. Not heavy enough to do job without a lot of leaning but followed tips of other people and borrowed weights from son-in-law to put at bottom of handle and then it was fine and did the job well on softish ground.

It could just be my lawn (it was very damp) but in areas it was hard to push and the metal cross-piece bent down towards the spikes and I had to bend them back as the spikes caught the metal and stopped the thing turning. this was not too much of a problem but the cross-piece could do with strengthening fillet across the angle.

Having looked at all the aerators on the market, I chose the Greenkey rolling lawn aerator because, unlike electric aerators, it does not cut up the grass roots and the kill the worms in the soil. As an engineer, I very much appreciate the way it has been designed and manufactured. Every piece fitted together perfectly. I only hope it was made in the U.K.

Easy to assemble and well made.
Only blip (and probably my fault) was that I may have overtightened some of the spikes which compressed the plastic and some of the spikes are not totally upright. I did this as some people say that the spikes can come loose.
Anyway I used it when the day after a heavy shower when the ground was softer. It worked really well and the lawn looks better some weeks later. I will use it regularly to let air, water and fertiliser get to the roots and to hopefully prevent compaction of the lawn. Limitations are that it only spikes to 2 so wouldn't have much effect if the compaction was deeper in the subsoil.
I would also imagine that you would need to weight it down to penetrate badly compacted soil.
Overall a very good product.
