Slower to use than the spiked roller but the spikes are longer which I assume does a better job.

The shoes stay on and seem good quality. They seem to do a good job of aerating the lawn.

Good product, used once to aerate lawn. A little fiddly to set the straps up to fit comfortably and securely but once done did the job

Great fun, I used a garden fork to keep me upright as it takes a bit of getting used to but it does the job really without to much effort.

Little tricky to use but do exactly what you would expect them to do. Use them after rain/damp ground as in hard grown it's twice as much work, if not more!

Now these are a really good product. Have read accounts of others struggling, both with the straps and with the technique. Does take a little practice to find out how to get suitably tight but once on are superb. I used to ice climb and the technique with these is the same as with crampons: walk 'au canard', like a duck, feet slightly wide apart and splayed, and deliberately press your feet in and lift just as deliberately. Be careful when turning. Not only will this give your lawn a quick improvement but also you'll know how to use crampons next time you're on snowy or icy slopes! Good luck.

Pretty good product. Easier on soft than on hard ground where it is a bit of an effort plunging the spikes in and then lifting them out. That said I think it is better than using a fork.

These are pretty good as long as your soil is not too dry. The straps are awkward to get tensioned correctly and you can reverse out of them accidentally when you try and turn at end of lawn, but overall an easy way to spike your lawn

Rated 4 out of 5

Thomas Rees

by on 2017-06-27

I think the principle is good and it's easier to walk the lawn than push a fork in. The straps are a bit fiddly and can slip a bit but that's typical of nylon webbing in my experience.

The product does the job. It is a good workout! Only issue was occasionally you have to stop and tighten the bolts on the spikes and also the straps holding it on your feet.

Worked well and I think they would rate a five if I had larger feet! My feet are just a bit too small for these to retain them with the straps (despite being in the appropriate settings) so I needed to stop now and again to readjust them. However, managed to cover large area and seem to work well enough.

Although the aerator sandals did the job, it was not as quick as the rolling lawn aerator but it was a lot of fun for both me and the spectators. The only drawback were the straps which kept loosening until the sandal fell off.

It does take a little bit of time to get used to walking on the lawn with the aerator sandals, but the results are well worth the effort!
The sandals are well-made and robust, easily-cleaned after use (do watch out for the spikes, though) and are easily adjusted to fit your footwear as tightly as possible, which is important to stop them slipping off in use.
Personally, I take a broom with me when I use the sandals to provide a bit of extra leverage if the spikes do get stuck in the lawn!
A really excellent product which does exactly what it says on the tin . . .

I use this product for aerating the lawn easily and often. It's sturdy and well designed, perfect for the purpose. It took five minutes to put together when it first arrived, but there were clear instructions about how to assemble it, and it has been a pleasure to use since.

Have used these before but these have a clip buckle that allows quick connect and release. The shoes are easy to use and do stay on your feet if connected correctly.

The buckles don't hold - I've had to poke bits of rubber into them, which makes more awkward to fit on.

Rated 3 out of 5

by on 2015-10-01

The sandals are good quality, however, I would only recommend them for use on very small lawns.

The spikes go in very easily into the ground, but are very difficult to get out and take a lot of effort.

Only recommend them for use by people who are sturdy on their feet.

Spikes come a bit loose and need some lock tight to hold them in. Would of been good to have a spanner included but they work well.

Have ordered a roller to replace these as I have a big lawn and takes a while to do with these. I tend to wear these whilst mowing or weed killing

Daft as it sounds a bit of guidance on usage would be helpful - that is to say - take short steps and with a marching action - may also be worth noting that the product is probably unsuitable for anyone who is unsteady on their feet
