There are basically four types of fertilizer spreader that you would use around the house, lawn or garden. We list three of them below; the fourth are the hand held spreaders which Lawnsmith do not rate at all.

- Not for Weed and Feed or Top Dressing
- Can tip on steep slopes - best on relatively flat lawns
- Not as easy as Shoulder Spreader around obstacles – trees, play frames, shrubberies
Drop Fertiliser Spreaders Rating 3/10

- Not easy to use, start or stop
- Will leave stripes if not used very accurately
- Slow and tricky on large lawns
- Virtually impossible on sloping or bumpy lawns
